Avoid Fall Allergies

Avoid seasonal allergies to make it so your entire family can enjoy this autumn. During this season, there are a lot of allergies. The most common are ragweed, outdoor mold, dust mites, and pet dander. Triggers for allergens during this season can include wet leaves, outdoor allergens being brought inside, and even temperatures or starting up the furnace for the first time. The stress that seasonal allergies bring can be avoided. At Chem-Dry, we have seven tips for our customers.

High-Efficiency Furnace Filter

Install a high quality furnace filter to help improve your home's health. It is possible to catch small particles like pollen, fine dust, and pet dander if you get a filter with a minimum filtration rating of MERV 8.

Close Your Doors and Windows

When pollen count is high, it can seem impossible to avoid exposure. Pollen can travel up to 400 miles from its source so it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Pollen count within the home can be reduced by closing doors and windows when the count outside is high.

Wear a Mask

Outside work still needs doing when your allergies are getting to you. Using an NIOSH N95 particulate respirator can help you keep away from aggravating particles that trigger your allergies.

Clean Your Carpets

Building up over time, allergens and bacteria get trapped in the fibers of the carpet. The allergens and bacteria in the air and carpets are reduced by Bluebonnet Chem-Dry's cleaning process. Chem-Dry's Home Healthy Study is impressive. Learn more about it by clicking on the link.

Get a HEPA filter Vacuum

It is unlikely that your home is cleaned every week by professional cleaners. 1-2 times a week is the recommended amount to use a three-stage HEPA filter vacuum between professional cleaning appointments. Helping maintain the healthy state of your home, this machine reduces dust mites, dust, pet dander, and other allergens from the surfaces in your home.

Shower Before Bed

Pollen, dust, mold, and smoke can get caught in your hair each day. These allergens may come in contact with your face after they are transferred from your hair to the pillow when you retire at the end of the day. Minimize night-time allergy symptoms by taking a quick shower before lying down to bed to rinse the allergens from your hair.

Allergy-Proof Your Bed

Fabric covers that are allergen-proof should cover your box springs, pillows, and mattresses to improve the health of your bed. Use these covers to protect your bed from dust, dust mites, and their waste.

Tile & Stone

*Based on studies conducted by independent laboratories of Chem-Dry’s HCE (Hot Carbonating Extraction), P.U.R.T. (Pet Urine Removal Treatment), Granite Countertop Renewal, and Tile, Stone & Grout cleaning processes. Allergens tested were dog and cat dander and dust mite allergen. Pet odor results based on testing with the most common odor sources found in dog and cat urine. Pet urine bacteria results based on Chem-Dry’s HCE cleaning process and a sanitizer, combined with P.U.R.T. All bacteria results include use of sanitizer. Figures are an average across multiple tests.
