Summertime Stains

12 June 2015

Hello everyone, summer is in full swing and we hope everyone is enjoying this time of the year when warm weather reigns, the sun shines longer, and we can all spend more time outdoors doing the things we love. Summer seams to come with its own set of fun activities like hiking, eating ice cream, having picnics and barbecues, and going swimming. These things all can cause their own unique stains to clothes, but that’s no reason to not enjoy this wonderful time of year. Go ahead and enjoy your summer and we’ll help you take care of any summertime stains you might encounter!

Grass Stains: grass stains are very common during the summer months and come in many varieties. Luckily, they are fairly simple to remove. For really tough grass stains we recommend soaking the garment in a bowl of warm water with a small amount of laundry detergent for about 30 minutes and then simply follow the normal launder instructions.

Mud Stains: little ones are bound to get muddy during their summer adventures. The best way to treat these stains is to let the mud dry and then remove as much of the mud as possible with a utensil. Once that is complete, wet the affected area, apply a small amount of detergent and rub the stain out. Once you’ve treated the stain launder normally.

Ice Cream Stains: ice cream is both delicious and dangerous, so be careful when you’re enjoying this summer treat. If you get an ice cream stain we recommend soaking the garment in cool water for 10 minutes. After that rub some detergent into the stain followed by 30 more minutes of soaking in room temperature water. Finally, apply some sort of spot remover for 7-10 minutes before laundering normally.

Ketchup/Mustard Stains: It’s difficult to have a proper barbecue without ketchup and mustard present, and stains are bound to happen here. First of all, scrape away the excess condiment, and then run the affected area under cool water. Next, rub the stain out with detergent, working your way from the outside of the stain inward. For white garments you may try applying some lemon juice or white vinegar as a bleaching element. Of course, launder as normal once the stain is removed.

Sunscreen Stains: These stains may happen during your day at the beach or pool, and fortunately it doesn’t take much to conquer them. We recommend applying a spot remover to the stain, and then pretreating by rubbing it with warm water and detergent before washing it normally.

Happy summer to everyone, and now that you know how to handle the stains, have fun out there without worrying!

May 15, 2015 | Allergy Awareness Month

May is Allergy Awareness Month, just in time for the usual slew of allergens to return in the spring time.. With 1 in 5 Americans suffering from either allergy or asthma symptoms, we need to do all we can to ensure we have clean homes to reduce the effects of these illnesses. Chem-Dry specializes in exactly that. We fight allergens and make your home cleaner and healthier to make the transition into spring easier on you and your family. Aside from having your home cleaned by us there are additional steps you can take to reduce the effects of the season:

Spring Cleaning: By keeping your home clean and tidy you can help reduce the amount of allergens and dust mites that exist in your home. Do simple things like emptying the trash daily, washing your bedding often, changing the filter in your furnace and air conditioner, and getting rid of any mildew. You’ll be surprised how such simple changes can make a big difference.

Keep Allergens at Bay: Part of the problem is that allergens cling to us and follow us into our homes. One way to keep them at bay is to remove your shoes, jacket, and hat when you enter the home. This way you leave them at the door instead of allowing them to tag along through the rest of the house. Another smart tip is to bathe at night, or even simply wash your hair before bed. This keeps your sleeping area clean and allergen free, which will allow you to get great sleep and wake up refreshed each day!

Pet Control: We all love our pets, but they are a common cause of allergies. There are some simple things you can do to reduce the allergy effects of having a pet while still being able to have them as part of your family. You’ll want to keep your pets off of couches, beds, and other living areas and ensure you clean up after them regularly. This includes bathing them on a regular basis. Your pets are lucky to have you, and following these simple tips can allow you to enjoy them without suffering from allergies.

November 20th, 2014The Holidays can be grueling when it comes to keeping your house clean. But with the start of the new year, all those messes will be minimized. Don't let the carpets add to the stress - we can handle the messes for you!

Even though there are many reasons to choose Bluebonnet Chem-Dry, the most apparent is our unique cleaning process, allowing us to clean deeper than any other brand. In comparison to steam cleaners, who uses gallons of water to try and clean your carpets, Chem-Dry offers a better way. Our unique process consists of using millions of microscopic carbonating bubbles (a lot like club soda) to penetrate deeper and leave a longer lasting clean. With the Bluebonnet Chem-Dry process, your carpets will be dry in just a couple of hours instead of days because we use less water. Call us today for a free estimate!

October 17th, 2014

While there are a lot of advantages to the Chem-Dry method, our ability to clean more effectively than any other brand or technique available is what makes us the best choice for your family. Our exclusive technique employs the power of carbonating bubbles to make your carpets like new again, a brand new method pioneered by Bluebonnet Chem-Dry.

Since carbonation has natural “lifting” qualities, it always rises to the top. Anyone who has ever poured a carbonated drink into a glass has seen this principle in action, as the bubbles always rise to the top. Using that principle, we have created our technique which uses a carbonated solution to release the dirt particles from the individual fibers. The carbonating bubbles lift the dirt particles to the top where we're able to remove them from your carpet. By using this tried and true method, you'll be able to experience a deeper clean and enjoy a longer lasting freshness for your home.

As opposed to carbonated cleaning, steam cleaning uses high pressure and gallons of water on your carpets. Cleaning this way pushes dirt and moisture down into your carpet, hiding the mess instead of cleaning it and creating a breeding ground for mildew and other bacteria. When you choose a steam cleaner you can expect that carpets won't be dry for days due to all that extra water. But when you use Bluebonnet Chem-Dry, you can expect to have your carpet dry in only 1-2 hours, due to the minimal amount of water used. If you understand simple math, :You can see that Bluebonnet Chem-Dry's cleaning technique could've dried nearly 24 times in the time it would take to dry from just 1 steam cleaning. Quality service from Chem-Dry for less hassle.

These amazing services are offered at a low price to ensure that we will fit with every budget. Experience our cleaning experience by calling us today!

While having your carpets cleaned is never a bad thing, it's better to know when to call the cleaners. Surprisingly, there are a few methods you can use to get even those tough stains out - something most carpet cleaners wouldn't tell you. Helping you is our first priority - so here are a few of the tips that the other cleaners wouldn't want you to know.

Much to your surprise, one of the best ways to remove stains and spots is to dampen the stain with warm water and a white cloth and gently blot it with your cloth. Don't try to aggressively remove the stain by scrubbing or wiping, as these can unravel your carpet fibers and worsen the spot. This will help transfer the stain from the carpet to the towel as you continue to blot it out. If the spot transfers, the towel will start to darken and you want to check often for transfer. Stop the process if you can't see any darkening.

If the stain won't come out with hot water, try club soda instead. Club soda is a fantastic cleaner because of the carbonation. At Chem-Dry we use this same principle of carbonation for cleaning in our patented solution. Check frequently for transfer of the stain to your towel as you blot the stain. You should be using the exact same process as you did for water. If this proves unsuccessful, then it's time to call the experts. Chem-Dry's exclusive solutions and methods are proven and guaranteed to provide for all of your carpet cleaning needs. When home remedies don't work, call the professionals at Chem-Dry!
